30% More Traffic In 12 Hours and Creating Strong Social Signals Too!

It’s All In The Engagement and Communities

We’re always looking at increasing client traffic, creating strong Social Signals for engagement and SEO as well as maintaining a very low resource footprint because we (well me in particular) like to minimise repetitive and boring tasks.

Those 3 areas are what every website owner lusts after.

Am I right? And I’m guessing you’re probably just like us.

So do you want some secret sauce that we’re testing at the moment?

Social Is The New Traffic Source, No Question!

I hope you have been keeping a little abreast of SEO trends and what Google has been doing for the last 12 to 18 months because it has to do with engagement and Social Signals.

I remember predicting this trend with my last Marketing employer 24 months ago and stressing the need to combine their SEO and Social team resources. Pity they didn’t move on my recommendation back then as they would have been ahead of the game, though I understand they’ve now done it :)

So Social and Traffic, huh?

There’s a cool free WordPress plugin called Tweetify that randomly retweets a piece of old content to a single Twitter account.

We did use it here and on a few other sites.

Just that one action promotes site awareness as well as helps in pulling in some additional traffic.

What if I told you that you can now do the same action but using:

  • Facebook (with Multiple Logins)
    • Groups and Pages too

    • Import FB comments to form WP Comments

  • Google+ (with Multiple Logins)
    • Pages and Communities as well

  • Tumblr (with Multiple Logins)

  • Pinterest (with Multiple Logins)

  • Reddit (with Multiple Logins)

  • Twitter (with Multiple Logins)

  • Blogger (with Multiple Logins)

Just as test over a day and just using Google+ with a few auto-posts to 5 relationship Communities, we managed to get a traffic increase of more than 30% in just 12 hours which we found astonishing.

It’s Publishing on Automatic too

Yes, it’s a WordPress plugin from Nextscripts and to get the multiple accounts and timing, it’s going to cost you a few dollars.

The traffic and automation is well worth 5 times the price, if you ask me.

And no branding either so you keep all the traffic to yourself.

Spend the Time to Plan Accounts and Configure

There’s some setup and configure time involved so be fully aware of ‘no pain, no gain’.

If you’ve got a certain niche then first go searching on Facebook and Google+ for Groups and Communities that you can interact with and who would appreciate your content.

Ascertain whether each of them are busy or low volume as you also need to note what would be an appropriate and passive posting timeframe.

As an example, on a busy G+ Community, I have one account set to a select group of WordPress Categories (relevant to the Community) that auto-posts new content after 12 hours and continually auto-posts old content (within just these Categories) every 16.5 hours.

Still testing which you need to as well.

The options and configuration ability of the plugin gives you an almost unlimited scope, as you can see below (click for a larger image view):

It’s Still About The Content

While you can merrily autopost past content posts, it’s equally important to understand the end-game here.

It is and always will be about high quality content and building and engaging an ever widening audience.

If your content is just crap, don’t expect that people will be coming back.

This is about exposing your past and future content to Internet users that have yet to discover you and your products and offerings.

It’s exposure based marketing – don’t just be a link-dropper!

My Take On The Social Explosion

  1. Act responsibly

  2. Plan the Social Media Engagement

  3. Join Groups and Communities and Prepare to First Engage

  4. Be aware of Activity Thresholds Before Auto-Posting

  5. Comment on Comments
    • Re-engage to Build Your Authority

This is a great plugin that significantly eases the burden of content syndication – just don’t be a link-dropper. People form bonds with Brands when they’re engaged with – that’s building an intimate and trusting relationship.

That’s what you need to be doing, OK?
